Introduction:
English is an international language
and in Bangladesh this language is being used and practiced as a second
language at schools, colleges and universities. At primary level in Bangladesh
English as a compulsory subject has introduced from 1992. Our children are the
future citizens they will must achieve English language. If we want to communicate with other countries, English language is essential media. For higher education and research, dealing with foreign exchange and adjusting trade imbalance or export and import. Besides these, it can be used for reading newspapers, periodicals and magazines. At modern age it can be more prominently used for blogging and free lancing as well. We use English comprehensively. If primary level our learners achieve four skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) properly, they can use English inside or outside of the classroom easily. Eventually they will able to use English in their daily life. But we observe in our Tulabaria Government Primary School and we teach English in Class-4 . Some students can’t pronounce the English word correctly. This is very unfortunate situation. To develop reading skill and correct pronounce the word and developing it’s situation I take this topic for an action research.

Rationale:
Our maximum younger learners consider
that English is hard and tough subject. In English class most of the time they
do not participate eagerly. For minimize the shyness to English subject and
increase the participation in English class. I consider that this research
program to be per format.
Objectives:
From my research program I hope that
the following aims will be achive:
- To find out the causes why students can’t understand of the meaning of word.
3.To increase in eagerness of English
subject.
4. To minimize the shyness of English
subject.
5. To promote speaking and reading
skills in English.
6. To Emphasis on daily life.
7. To increase in correct pronunciation
in reading text.
Research
method and tools:
To perform my research program, I
have taken following two methods-
1. Observation method
2. Interview method.
To collect data for research programs
I have used the following tools:
a. Questionnaire
b. Observation Sheet
c. Interview Sheet
To identify
provable causes:
1. Students can’t make sounds of
alphabet properly.
2. Can’t identify some letters
properly(c,e,d,b,p,q)
3. Can’t use syllable appropriately.
4. Students not to actively text
pronunciation with teacher.
Data presentation and analysis
I
have selected 6 (six) slow learners in Class 4 show can’t pronounce the word
English language. I have collected essential data from these learners by using
questionnaire and tabulated as follows-

Table-1
indicates that out of 5 students 2 come school regular and other come

that this subject is tough to them. Selected out of 5 students. Only 2 students
have their guardians who help them to learn English at home. But no other
students help at home. All students said that they have no house tutor. It is
very interesting that selected students able to read any English text book
consistently. But when asked them to say the text pronounce the word, no one
respond properly.

To
develop identification reading of the text, what they can’t pronounce for
selected learners. I have provided with class 4. I have taken sufficient
teaching aids with a view of following different classroom techniques such as
an individual work, pair work, small group work and different pedagogical
method. I have emphasized in collaborative, independent and co-operative learning.
On the 4th day to justify the development of the selected learners I
have again taken their interviews sheet.
Observation and reflection:
On the first day I have entered into the classroom with word
card and text book etc. At first, I have read word and tell this pronounce from
word card and students followed often me. Then teach the text pronounce the
word and help the learner to say the meaning. From this activity students are
engaged to learner pronounce the text. Make small groups and give sufficient
words and stories book each group. Ask each group to discuss and say word of
the pronounce . On that day I have also engaged with collaborative learning for
the learner. From my first day of teaching stategics. I have understood that
some learners be improved to understand pronounce of the word or text. On the
second day I have entered into classroom and made opportunities to practice on
difference sounds (c,e,d,b,p,q) understand for the selected learners. To
develop the slow learners, I have provided collaborative learning in the
classroom. On this day when I evaluate two learners have able to understand.
On the third day I have entered into classroom with
sufficient teaching aids. On this day, I have taken 3 variations of my teaching
style and techniques, given the word card to the learners in small group and
asked them to say we will use syllable appropriately. Out of five to 2 learners
able to use syllable appropriately. Finally, I helped the learner to write and
say words. On this day some advanced learners helped the selected learners to
select and properly pronounce of words or text. After Four days of my
methodical teaching of the fourth day I have taken interviews of those elected
learners through interview sheet and obtained result shown the following

teaching two learners were able to say words of meaning sequentially whereas
before it was zero. But only 2 learners gave answer partially. Where was before
my teaching no one say meaning of words randomly. Table two indicates that all
selected learners are able to choose some meaning of words. Say and write these
words.
Result was shown as following graphical presentation.

Before methodical teaching
After methodical teaching
Probable remedial ways for
solving probable causes:
1. Students had not learned the sounds
of alphabet properly.
2. Alphabet sounds difference understand
the students.
3. Action to be taken to use syllable
properly.
4. Students attentively practice with
teacher.
From research program this truth has established that
methodical teaching, use of sufficient teaching aids, application of different
classroom techniques in collaboration with classroom help the learners to
achieve definite learning outcomes of the lesson. In these research programs, I
have obtained partial positive results, some slow learners have progressed. So,
this type of research program should be continuing in future. It’s my
expectation.https://hasankishor.blogspot.com/p/teachers-guideline.html
